As the new year begins, we reflect on a holiday season filled with community spirit and festive cheer. December brought a flurry of meaningful moments, including our annual Holiday Light Tour & Fundraiser. Over $3,400 and 100 pounds of groceries were raised for Fish and Loaves in Tofino and Food Bank on the Edge in Ucluelet to support local food security initiatives. It was a beautiful evening with a record-breaking turnout, made special by the warmth and generosity shared among our guests, team, and the communities of Tofino and Ucluelet.

January brings a time to polish, reset, and prepare for the year ahead during our annual closure. From deep cleaning to addressing the subtle wear left by nature's unrelenting elements, every nook and cranny of the Inn is carefully considered. This year, our focus is on the East Wing of our Beach Building, where 18 guest rooms are receiving thoughtfully updated bathrooms, along with refreshed fixtures and finishes. All our suites will see upgrades reflecting our commitment to sustainability and an elevated guest experience, including updated commodes, new bathroom amenities, and more.

Looking ahead, we eagerly anticipate a year filled with vibrant celebrations, intimate weddings, and memorable gatherings. Preparation continues on our new Hemlock Hideaway, an enchanting event space nestled in the temperate rainforest, set to open in the spring. This year, we’ll also be collaborating with renowned landscape architect Paul Sangha to further enhance our way-finding and surrounding grounds, creating spaces that seamlessly blend with the natural beauty of our Chesterman Beach location while remaining in complete harmony with our West Coast ecosystem.

More than just a physical reset, our closure period offers an opportunity for our team to pause, reflect, and innovate. Operations are reviewed across all departments as we continuously look for ways to improve efficiency, enhance quality, and refine our approach to hospitality. This time of reflection allows us to explore new ideas and ensure we continue evolving in ways that matter most to our guests.
