Jaimee Anderson’s journey to Tofino was a fortunate twist of fate. Originally from Australia and planning to stay in Vancouver, she came across a job posting for the Wickaninnish Inn in early 2020. Without knowing much about Tofino, she took a leap of faith—one that ultimately led her to a place that felt like home. “My time in Tofino has completely changed my lifestyle,” she reflects. “Going from living in big cities of 2 to 10 million people, Tofino has been a place for me to reset, reconnect with who I am and what I want to offer to this world and those around me.”

As Restaurant Supervisor and Lead Restaurant Reservations at the Wick, Jaimee plays a key role in curating exceptional guest experiences. With nearly two decades in hospitality, she understands the art of personalized service and strives to make each guest feel like part of the Wickaninnish family. “The Inn offers a level of service that I have always strived for and tried to find for many years. I feel like I finally am where I belong.”

From coordinating seamless reservations to fostering warm, genuine interactions, Jaimee finds fulfillment in creating moments that leave a lasting impression. “I strive to make my guests feel so comfortable that they begin to feel like they are a part of the Wickaninnish family. From the moment they arrive until they leave, I put my energy into creating an experience just for them,” she explains. With a passion for people, she finds the most rewarding part of her work to be the returning guests whose connections with the Inn endure beyond a single visit.

Growing up on the east coast of Australia, Jaimee was raised in a family with deep ties to the ocean. Boating, camping, crabbing, and swimming were second nature, instilling in her a lifelong love for being on the water. Though Tofino’s coastline is vastly different from home, she thrives in the adventure of discovering new gems. One of Jaimee’s favourite spots is Kennedy Lake, with its steep mountain ridges and ancient rainforests, offering a peaceful escape where she can recharge and appreciate the untamed beauty of the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. “To see humans and nature and wildlife living so closely and thriving is something I have never experienced. I feel like nature has the upper hand in Tofino, and we have the privilege to experience it.”

More than just a workplace, the Wickaninnish Inn has become a home away from home for Jaimee. “What I value most is how truly cared for I feel working as a part of this team. For me, the Wickaninnish has been a family.” The strong sense of camaraderie within the team, where colleagues support one another professionally and personally, has made a lasting impact. Whether stepping in to lend a hand or celebrating each other’s milestones, the culture of care and connection at the Inn is one she deeply values.

Jaimee’s path has taken her across the world, working in different countries and cultures, each experience shaping her approach to hospitality. But it is here, on the edge of the Pacific Ocean, that she has found a sense of belonging. Whether welcoming new guests or reconnecting with returning visitors, she is grateful for the opportunity to share the magic of the Wickaninnish Inn and the beauty of Tofino—a place that reminds her of what is important in life and re-inspires her passion for adventure.
